Platelet therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy awakens your body’s natural healing response by injecting your own platelets into injured ligaments, tendons, joints and damaged cartilage.

If you are one of the millions of Americans who suffer from chronic joint pain or musculoskeletal problems, Naturopathic Physicians Group can help. Our clinic has been using this proven therapy to heal joint pain and other conditions for over 12 years.[/vc_column_text]

What is Platelet Therapy (PRP)?

Platelet therapy uses your own blood platelets to stimulate repair and regeneration, allowing for faster, more effective healing. In addition to repairing tissue, PRP therapy also creates a strong, structural matrix for new cartilage, ligaments and bone.

How Does it Work?
  • First, blood is drawn as if for a blood test and centrifuged in a standardized process that separates and concentrates the platelets.
  • The resulting platelet concentrate is injected with local anesthetic into ligaments, tendons, and joints.
  • Upon injection, the platelets attach to injured collagen fibers and cartilage and release their healing proteins, called growth factors.
  • Growth factors stimulate healing at the site by inducing new collagen formation, attracting stem cells to the area and stimulating new cartilage formation.
  • This accelerated healing continues over 4-8 weeks. The injected platelets live on for three to five days during which they continue to secrete additional growth factors.

When a painful area is also inflamed we may suggest starting with a Prolotherapy treatment to decrease the swelling before moving on to Platelet Therapy. Our goal is maximum healing with minimal discomfort, decreasing inflammation and improving joint strength.

What Parts of the Body can PRP Therapy Treat?

PRP therapy brings healing to numerous orthopedic conditions, including arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, and torn cartilage.

SPINE: Neck, ribs, upper back, low back, and disk injuries

ARM: Shoulder, rotator cuff, elbow, wrist, and thumb

LEG: Hip, knee, ankle, toe, and Achilles tendon

PRP therapy is especially effective for conditions that have advanced degeneration, cartilage damage, and joints that are reluctant to heal, such as osteoarthritic hips, knees and shoulders.

When I came to Dr Mike, I had chronic pain from my osteoarthritis in my knees, and hip. Also very painful plantar fasciitis in my left foot. After one treatment I was much more mobile and after three treatments I am pain free and fully active. I had so many treatments before and none worked like Prolotherapy.

I had an amazing experience with my treatments here. Prolotherapy and PRP is an tremendous form of treatment to fix and heal a variety of joint problems and I doubt that there's anybody who does it better than Dr . Michael Cronin and his staff. I've always looked forward to going here as I feel very welcomed and I know how effective it is in my healing. I couldn't be happier!
